For the first time in its 40-year history, runners can register for the Fourth of July race on the Internet.
Online registration begins at 7 a.m. March 15 at www.ajc.com/peachtree. The traditional paper application will appear in the newspaper the following Sunday, March 22.
Organizers will select the first 45,000 runners from online applications. The remaining 10,000 will come from paper applications, the Track Club said. Paper applications must be postmarked by March 31.
“The addition of an online registration option for the AJC Peachtree Road Race is part of a continuing effort to enhance the overall Peachtree experience,” stated Tracey Russell, executive director of the Atlanta Track Club, which organizes the race.
“Nearly all of the larger road races across the country and around the world use online registration, and now Peachtree participants will be able to experience the benefits of having different registration options.”
Track Club officials said successful online applicants will see a confirmation Web page immediately after submitting their application and will receive a confirmation e-mail within 24 hours. Another first: Participants can now pay the registration fee with a credit card.
“The AJC is pleased to expand its support of the event this year by serving as the entry point for online registration through ajc.com as well as continuing the long tradition of running the application form in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution,” said AJC vice president of marketing Amy Chown.
